Panthers Draw With Fighting Knights

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech men's soccer team faced one of its biggest tests to date in the 2026 season on Wednesday night as they welcomed the Lynn Fighting Knights to Rick Stottler Field. On a night where chances were at a premium, the Panthers were able to earn a valuable point in Sunshine State Conference play, emerging with a 1-1 draw.

GAME INFORMATION
Score: #25 Florida Tech 1 | Lynn 1
Records: #25 Florida Tech 4-1-3 (2-0-1 SSC) | Lynn 2-1-4 (1-1-1 SSC)
Location: Rick Stottler Field | Melbourne, Fla.

GAME NOTES
  • The Panthers scored with the game's first chance eight minutes in when a long ball over the top created confusion at the back for the Fighting Knights. Nikolai Gabrielsen's shot was denied by the keeper, but Marius Brandmayr was on the spot to hammer home the rebound and score for a third consecutive SSC game to give Tech the early advantage.
  • Lynn's first chance in the game came in the 14th minute when a shot from distance was easily handled by Elias Ronning Orn.
  • The Fighting Knights would not see another scoring opportunity until the 30th minute, when another shot from well outside the area troubled Ronning Orn little.
  • Lynn attempted an acrobatic effort from just outside the area in the 41st minute but Ronning Orn had time to get under the high shot.
  • However, Lynn would get on the board with just under a minute left in the half when passing built from the back eventually lead to a left to right shot that was just beyond the reach of Ronning Orn to level the game going into the intermission.
  • The first true scoring chance of the second half didn't come until the 72nd minute when Ronning Orn parried the opponents shot from just outside the area.
  • The Crimson and Gray would go down to 10 men with just under five minutes to play when Max May was shown a red card for a high tackle after briefly losing possession near midfield.
  • However, the Fighting Knights were unable to capitalize on the advantage as neither team recorded a shot on target in the final 17 minutes.
NOTABLE PANTHERS
