Ballweber Named to SSC All-Freshman Team
November 19, 2009ORLANDO, Fla. (Volleyball) – For the second year in a row the Panthers have placed one of their own on the Sunshine State Conference Volleyball All-Freshman team. For 2009, Caitlyn Ballweber graces that list after leading Florida Tech in kills and points this season.
Through the team’s 27 matches, Ballweber, a 5-11 OH/MB from Homer Glenn, Ill., paced the Panthers in kills (320), good for ninth in the conference; kills per set (3.17) and points (363). She also finished second on the squad in service aces with 17 and third in blocks at 0.50 per set.
Ballweber recorded a season-high 21 kills and 12 digs in a five-set match against Eckerd College in September. She also fueled a 3-0 week for Tech in early October that included a pair of conference wins over Rollins (3-2) and Lynn (3-1), amassing 47 kills, 17 digs and five blocks during that span.
Ballweber and the Panthers wrapped up the 2009 season with a 12-15 overall record and 3-13 mark in the SSC.
