ST. PETERSBURG BEACH, Fla. (Tennis) – Florida Tech men’s and women’s head coach Bill Macom was named USPTA/Florida-Melbourne district tennis professional of the year for 2009. Macom received the award at the USPTA/Florida division convention this past weekend at the Trade Winds Island Resort in St. Petersburg Beach.

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Baseball) – For the first time since 2007, a Florida Tech baseball player has signed with a Major League team to continue his baseball career. Former starting right-hander Mike Piazza signed a free agent contract with the Anaheim Angels organization Tuesday night.

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men’s Basketball) – Though things may be slow during the summer months for Florida Tech Athletics, the Panthers are getting good exposure in an unlikely place: England. Tech men’s basketball coach Billy Mims has been working as a studio analyst for the NBA Finals for a program called Sport on 'five' on Channel 5, one of the UK's five free stations available to a nation-wide audience. Throughout the broadcasts, Mims has been seen proudly donning his Florida Tech emblazoned gear.
