KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Men’s Basketball) – Florida Tech senior guard Simon Cummings was named All-District Second Team by members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Friday afternoon.
His selection marks the second straight year a Panther has been named to the all-district team. One season ago, FIT’s all-time leading scorer Justin Sedlak was also tabbed to the area’s second team. Cummings finished his four-year Panther career by leading FIT to its first outright Sunshine State Conference Championship, its third NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and a victory in the first round of the tournament. In his final season, he averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals. Including postseason play, he finished in the top five in the SSC in four categories. He led the league in minutes played per game (34.7) and placed second in points and steals. The NABC honor is his third postseason award this year. Since the regular season ended, he has been awarded SSC First Team and was the conference’s lone representative on the Daktronics All-South Region Team, earning second team honors. Also representing the SSC were Eckerd’s Lance Kearse, who reeled in first team honors, and fellow second team honoree Trent Thomas of Saint Leo. Cummings is now eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division II All-America Teams. |
