HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Men’s Lacrosse) – Florida Tech registered its first road win of the program’s inaugural season Friday night, turning back Coker 11-9 at Byerly Park. The Panthers (2-9) have now won two consecutive games, while the Cobras (2-9) fall for the fifth straight time.
“This game was a true team effort,” head coach Ryan McAleavey said. “We played a great team game and everyone stepped up to get it done. These kids would not quit and were not going to lose this game.” Coker took a two-goal lead early, but FIT bounced back by scoring seven unanswered goals between the first and second quarters. The Cobras made a late charge in the last 15 minutes, however, they came away empty handed. Patrick Manning scored a team-high three goals. Christian Isola had seven groundballs and won 9-of-11 faceoffs. He and Tyler Kunce combined to go 17-of-23 in the circle. Mason Cook was big in goal, making 15 saves on 37 shots. The Panthers will now return to Florida to prepare for their final trip to North Carolina late next week. They will play at Lenoir-Rhyne Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m. and at Belmont Abbey on Sunday, April 1, at 12 p.m. |
