Florida Tech fall sports season set to open with a bang

Men's and women's soccer, as well as volleyball, will be in action at home beginning on Thursday Sept. 1.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Athletics) – Every Monday this year, Panther fans will get a glimpse of the upcoming week with our "Panther Weekly Update", a new addition to Florida Tech Sports coverage. Each feature will preview all the week's upcoming events for our sports teams. This week, fall sports: soccer, football, and volleyball will kick off their respective 2016 seasons.
 
Women's Soccer
The Florida Tech women's soccer program will make its regular season debut this weekend in the Marriot Doubletree Panther Invitational at Rick Stottler Field amongst some of the nation's top competition. The tournament features 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifiers West Florida, Tampa and back-to-back reigning Lone Star Conference Champion Texas A&M-Commerce.

In addition to the action on the field, the women's soccer team will be hosting its very own fundraiser this Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Chipotle location on West New Haven Ave in Melbourne.

In order to participate, fans can go to the Chipotle on Sept. 1 between 5 and 9 p.m. ET. Just bring in the flyer linked to the right of the story, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier that you are supporting the cause to make sure that 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated back to the women's soccer program.
 
Men's Soccer
Head coach Robin Chan and company will begin its 2016 season at home this Thursday at 7 p.m. versus Union (Tenn.) before capping off the weekend Sunday against Mississippi College at 2:30 p.m. The Panthers knocked off both opponents on the road by a combined 6-1 margin a year ago.

Football
Looking to build off its 7-4 campaign in 2015, the Florida Tech football team will open its season this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Newberry, S.C. against reigning ECAC Division II Football Team of the Year, Newberry College.
 
The Panthers were recently ranked third in the Gulf South Conference 2016 Preseason Coaches' poll for the first time in program history, landing eight student-athletes on the preseason all-conference team.

Volleyball
Florida Tech volleyball is set to open the season this weekend as host of the Panther Invitational on Sept. 2-3 at the Clemente Center. In addition to the Panthers, this year's event features Georgia College, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and Wilmington (Del.).
 
The Panther Invitational begins at 3 p.m. ET on Friday with a matchup between UPR-Mayaguez and GC. Florida Tech tips off its 2016 campaign in Friday's nightcap, a 6 p.m. battle with the Bobcats from Georgia College.
