WINTER PARK, Fla. (Baseball) – Florida Tech’s K.C. Clabough, James Mannara and Ryan McChesney were selected All-Sunshine State Conference First Team and Jason Boyer was awarded second team honors on Wednesday.

A senior from Cocoa Beach, Fla., Clabough led the SSC for the second straight season in stolen bases with 35. He started all 49 games at shortstop, batting .341 with 60 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, one home run and 29 RBIs as the Panthers’ leadoff hitter. He also scored 38 runs, drew 26 walks and was hit-by-pitch 14 times. His stolen base total ranked ninth in NCAA Division II after the regular season ended.

Mannara, a junior from Orlando, Fla., was the go-to guy out of the bullpen for head coach Greg Berkemeier. He posted the sixth-best earned run average in Division II at the conclusion of the regular season, 1.25. He flashed a 4-2 record and five saves in 26 appearances, one appearance was a start. In 50 1/3 innings, he permitted just seven earned runs and six walks with 49 strikeouts. He held opponents to a .257 batting average.  

McChesney was a unanimous selection at first base. The senior from Lehigh Acres, Fla. led or tied for the team lead in many offensive categories and was just as polished defensively at first base and catcher. He recorded a .368 batting average with 60 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 39 RBIs. Like Clabough, he crossed the plate 38 times and worked his way to 26 walks. He finished with a .991 fielding percentage, while making 299 putouts.

In his first season as a Panther, Boyer had a 3.14 ERA and a 7-3 mark in 13 starts and one relief appearance. The junior transfer from Orlando struck out 81 batters and held opponents to a .245 clip. He also combined for one shutout after throwing eight scoreless innings and surrendering two hits, while striking out 11 against Paine on Feb. 25.

Voting for the all-conference team was conducted among the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
