GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Men’s Track & Field) – Florida Tech’s Ja’Mar Watson won the discus event at a distance of 47.71 meters Saturday at the University of Florida’s Percy Beard Track.
Watson beat a Division I field, which included two participants from Florida International and four from Florida. He out-threw eventual second-place finisher, Michael Montero from Florida International, by 88-tenths of a meter. He also took part in the men’s hammer throw. However, he did not have as much success as he fouled on all three of his attempts. Justin McMaster earned a sixth-place finish in the men’s 3,000-meter run at 9:32.68. Florida’s J.L. Hines won the race at 8:27.42. One week after finishing ahead of the Division II participants in the men’s long jump, Tim Richardson placed ninth at 6.51 meters. Nike’s Will Claye won the event at 8.25 meters. The Gators’ Omar Craddock was the top NCAA athlete, jumping 7.24 meters. |
