SKILLMAN, N.J. (Women’s Tennis) – Coming off its fourth consecutive NCAA Division II Championship appearance, Florida Tech achieved its highest national ranking ever at No. 17 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Poll. The Panthers’ final ranking is one spot higher than when they debuted at No. 18 entering the spring season.
Led by head coach Bill Macom, FIT posted a 16-9 overall mark in 2012, which included five wins over ranked opponents. Its last win came against then 19th-ranked Florida Southern, 6-3, in the Panthers’ regular-season finale. Katarina Huba and her sister Kristina Huba wrapped up their season as two of the top-ranked players in Division II. Katarina ended her career ranked No. 30. Kristina, meanwhile, entered the singles rankings for the first time in her two years as a Panther at No. 35. The Huba sisters also received recognition in the national doubles poll. As FIT’s top tandem, they ranked No. 13 in Division II. |
