ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Softball) – Florida Tech (16-21, 2-8 SSC) rode a four-run offensive explosion in the seventh inning to shock Eckerd (9-29, 1-6 SSC) 6-3 Friday evening at the Turley Athletic Complex.
Down by a run in the seventh, the Panthers mounted a comeback. With runners on second and third, Erica Tollett roped a single to right field to score two runs, one came in on an errant throw by the Tritons’ right fielder. The Panthers added two more insurance runs before the end of the inning. “The team did well tonight,” head coach Val Silvestrini said. “We had runners on base every inning and found a way to score in the seventh. It was a great team effort.” Brianna Barth (8-11) notched the win. In seven innings, she allowed three runs on five hits and one walk, while striking out seven batters. Tollett finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Brooke Fisher made the best of her one at-bat, going 1-for-1 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Lauren Cole and Lindsy Dugan each had two hits and an RBI. Emily Densem also supplied two hits with two runs scored.
