Ryan McAleavey finished his eighth season as the head coach of the men's lacrosse program at Florida Tech in spring 2018.
In his fourth season, Florida Tech set a new mark for wins with a 12-4 record. The Panthers defeated two ranked programs in then #15 Lenoir-Rhyne (13-12) and then #15 Wheeling Jesuit (12-9). FIT was ranked for the first time in program history on Feb. 17 when the team debuted at #15. McAleavey's squad received its highest ranking at #10. The Panthers played in their first-ever Sunshine State Conference Championship game on April 26 against the University of Tampa.
In his third season at Florida Tech in 2014, McAleavey's team had a 3-9 record. The Panthers nearly upset Belmont Abbey College, Queens University, Wheeling Jesuit University, Catawba College and Saint Leo University.
In his second season in 2013, McAleavey was named Deep South Conference Coach of the Year. He led the Panthers to a 6-8 record in 2013 after they went 2-12 during their inaugural season in 2012.
MARK PENN
Assistant Coach
Mark Penn enters his third season as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Florida Tech. Under Penn's leadership, the 2015 campaign was the Panthers' best defensive season in program history.
The Panthers' ranked 18th in the nation, third in the Sunshine State Conference, in scoring defense, allowing just 9.19 goals per contest. Florida Tech was even more effective on man-down defense, stopping .776 percent of opponents' extra-man opportunities, good for ninth in Division II. Penn's aggressive style of defense helped the Panthers force a school record, and league-leading, 138 caused turnovers in 2015, 50 more than the previous mark set during the 2013-14 campaign. FIT also topped the SSC with 3.63 caused turnovers per game.
Three Florida Tech defensive players were named to the All-SSC team in 2015. Eric Biller and Jordan Carlock were awarded first team selections while sophomore defender Tom Filipow took home second team honors.
