VTC Field
The Varsity Training Center (VTC) Field is an artificial turf practice field used by Florida Tech’s Athletics teams. It is the primary practice field for both men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse programs.
Upon its opening in 2012, it was the only turf facility on campus at Florida Tech until the summer of 2023.
From 2013-2019 It was the primary practice field for the Florida Tech Panthers Football team. In 2017, additional turf was added to accommodate the men’s lacrosse program which utilized the field for its home contests from 2019 until the spring of 2023.
A project to returf the VTC field began in the Summer of 2023. The project saw the installation of Shaw Legion NXT 2.0 synthetic turf, a hybrid system that offers a realistic aesthetic with an electrifying degree of durability. The infill consists of Shaw Sports Turf's most popular infill material, Geofill. Geofill is 100% natural and plays naturally, resulting in a perfect balance of Vertical Deformation, Rotational Resistance, and Energy Restitutio. The Geofill infill used in the system is made of coconut husks and fibers, which is a rapidly renewable resource. The infill requires much less water than natural grass, thus resulting in significant levels of conservation.
The field is located directly between the Varsity Training Center and Nancy Bottge Field. The facility consists of bathrooms and Locker Rooms that lead directly out to the VTC field and Athletic Complex.
