MELBOURNE, Fla. (Athletic News) – You’ve seen him at basketball games. You think you’ve got what it takes. Well let’s see who does! Florida Tech athletics is launching “So You Wanna be a Mascot?” – a competition to determine who will be the next Pete the Panther!

Open tryouts will be held Friday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m. Students interested in trying out must meet the following criteria: you must be enrolled full time at Florida Tech, you must have had a physical within the past six months and bring the form with you, you must sign a risk-liability waiver and you must come wearing athletic shoes and proper attire.

Students must also contact cheerleading coach Lindsay Nichols (FloridaTechCheer@fit.edu) prior to Oct. 2 if you intend to try out. Once you are registered for the try out, you will learn of the location where it will be held.

With scholarship money on the line, it’s time to bring you’re A game! Once the tryouts are complete, a select few will be chosen as finalists. Those finalists will then be filmed wearing the Panther costume and the videos will be posted online for the campus community to vote on.
