Panthers Shutout Mocs on Senior Night

Mary Watson scores game winner as FIT defeats Florida Southern 1-0 Saturday night

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women's Soccer) – The Florida Tech women's soccer team (8-4, 3-4 SSC) honored its seniors in a big way Saturday night, defeating Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern (1-6-1, 1-5 SSC) by a score of 1-0 on Senior Night at Rick Stottler Field.

The Panthers controlled the pace of play against FSC from the get-go, forcing the Moccasins to play much of the game on their own defensive half.

However, despite a 13-6 edge in shots for FIT, both teams entered halftime knotted at 0-0.

FIT finally broke through in the 49th minute when Aubri Williamson directed a pass towards the right post and found a cutting Mary Watson, who buried the opportunity for her first goal of the season and gave FIT a 1-0 advantage.

From there, the Panthers continued there onslaught, outshooting the Mocs 12-6 in the half. However, FIT was unable to put another one past FSC goalkeeper Helena Norrstrom (1-6-1), who finished with nine saves in the match.

Karlyn Prisco (8-4) made five saves in the Panther net to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

Keira McCarthy led FIT in shots with six, including two on goal. Williamson and Watson each fired off four shots in the contest.
