BOCA RATON, Fla. (Women's Soccer) – Entering Tuesday's non-conference clash with Lynn, freshman
Maria Munoz had scored one goal in her Florida Tech career. By the end of the night, that number had tripled as the Orlando City ECNL product netted a pair of goals in the Panthers' 2-1 win over the Fighting Knights.
Munoz got FIT on the board in the 30
th minute, tapping in a pass to the center of the box from
Maddy Keenan. It was the Weston, Florida native's first goal since Sept. 11 against West Alabama.
FIT's efforts to hold the lead were successful until the 87
th minute, when Caroline Duerr evened the score with a shot from the top of the box.
It would have been easy for the late equalizer to take the air out of the sails for Florida Tech. Instead, Munoz snatched the lead right back less than two minutes later, scoring off of an
Aubri Williamson assist.
The Fighting Knights wouldn't get another opportunity in the game as the Panthers ran out the clock.
The Panthers conclude the regular season on Friday, travelling to Daytona Beach, Florida for a duel against Embry-Riddle at 6 p.m. ET. Links to live coverage will be available at FloridaTechSports.com.
