MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women's Basketball) – Florida Tech women's basketball (4-1) was dominant in its second home game of the year, routing the Warner Royals (5-5) by a score of 84-40 Friday at the Clemente Center.
Shequana Harris led all players with 15 points and six steals to go along with five rebounds.
Gracie Doane recorded 11 points and five boards and
Aniquah Swan added 10 points (4-of-5) and four steals.
DeLise Williams collected nine points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals, while
Markeema Crawford finished with nine points and three rebounds.
Tanease Richardson notched eight points and, five boards, two steals and two assists.
Sara Poehlman paced the Royals with 10 points, six boards and two steals. Charisa Broadway tallied seven points and Kaley Schmick ended with five point and four rebounds.
FIT outshot WU 45.1 percent (32-of-71) to 31.1 percent (14-of-45). The Panthers won the rebounding battle 45-32, including a 19-6 disparity on the offensive glass.
Florida Tech's defensive pressure caused fits for their opponent throughout the contest and forced Warner into 33 turnovers, compared to just 11 for the Panthers.
FIT opened the game scoring 12 of the first 15 points to take a nine point lead at the 5:48 mark. The advantage extended to 11 points, 19-8, with 2:06 remaining, before the Panthers closed the quarter up 23-13 over the Royals.
The Panthers outscored WU 14-7 in the second en route to a 37-20 edge going into halftime.
FIT continued to cruise through the second half, tallying 47 points to the Royals' 20 to finish up with the 44-point victory.
