Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 6 Rollins Hands Panthers 1-0 Defeat

FIT drops third game in a row, hosts PBA on Wednesday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (Women's Soccer) – A goal by Rollins' Emma Bloom in the 89th minute was the difference in the match between Florida Tech women's soccer (5-3, 1-3 SSC) and 6th-ranked Rollins (6-1, 2-0 SSC), as the Panthers fell to the Tars 1-0 on Saturday night at Barker Family Stadium.

The loss is FIT's third in as many Sunshine State Conference games, with all three contests being decided by one-goal margins.

FIT and RC were unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities throughout much of the game as both goalkeepers put on impressive displays to protect their respective nets. Florida Tech's Karlyn Prisco (5-3) and Rollins' Kelly Roswell (6-1) finished with eight saves, apiece, while facing constant pressure.

The Panthers received one of their best scoring chances of the night in the 70th minute when a Rollins' foul in the box set up a Ciera Misner penalty kick. However, Misner was unable to convert as Roswell came up big with the answer to keep the game scoreless.

It looked as though the two teams were going to play their way into halftime until Kat Weiss collected the ball at midfield and found Bloom streaking down the left side on a through-pass for the eventual game-winner.

FIT scrambled to find the equalizer as time ticked off the clock. Maddy Keenan had a chance at tying the game in the waning seconds but her header was punched over the crossbar by Roswell to preserve the Tars' win.

Rollins outshot Florida Tech 18-14 in the contest and held a narrow edge in corner kicks 7-6. Keira McCarthy led the Panthers with four shots, including three on goal, while Maria Munoz and Aubri Williamson finished with three shots, apiece.

Florida Tech will look to bounce back in their upcoming game against SSC provisional member Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. ET at Rick Stottler Field. Fans can access live coverage of the action at FloridaTechSports.com/live.
