Panthers Outlast Royals, 70-56

Williams finishes outing just shy of a double-double

MELBOURNE, Fla. - On Tuesday night, Florida Tech (3-4) earned its third win of the season after handing Warner University (4-7) an overwhelming 70-55 loss at Clemente Center.

The Panthers shot 48 percent during the game with 42 points in the first half and 28 in the second. A majority of Florida Tech's points came from their deep bench, as they put up 48 of the 70 points scored in the evening outing. FIT led for 37:35 minutes and outmatched the Royals defense by winning the points in the turnover battle 17-15. Additionally, the Crimson and Gray totaled a game-best 36 rebounds.

Senior DeLise Williams led the way for Florida Tech after tallying 16 points, producing 10 in the first half alone. The guard was 6-for-7 from the floor and managed to shoot 3-for-3 in the second half.

Additional top performers for FIT were Gracie Doane and Kailyn Ebb. Doane, a junior out of Roanoke, knocked down three shots from behind the arc to record 12 of her 15 points throughout the game. She also managed another season-best record in the mid-week outing, as she registered a 5-for-9 performance from the floor.

Joining in the double-digits for scoring, Ebb ended the night with 12 points, five rebounds and one steal. From the line, the forward framed a team-best 7-for-9 performance.

Starting the game, Ebb scored the first two points of the quarter, before Amanda Allen stepped in with a three-pointer to bring FIT's lead, 5-2. After Warner closed the gap 7-4 on free throws, Florida Tech jumped out to an 18-12 run to close the initial frame, 24-16. In the second period, Ebb sunk two free throws to open the stanza, and Williams followed up two minutes later with a layup out of a steal to bring the score to 28-20. Florida Tech outrebounded Warner 10-6 and connected 44.4 percent of their field goals to enter the half up 42-25.

After the break, FIT ran with its lead, scoring 12 more points to gain the largest lead of the game (24 points), and energize their play with 12 rebounds in the third quarter. The team tallied three blocks alone in this segment, accounting for nearly the game total.

Although Warner outscored the Crimson and Gray 22-16, the Panthers defense held firm in the last period. After suffering a two-minute drought, Williams found the paint again in the final 39 seconds and fastened the FIT win, 70-56.

Next up, Florida Tech will travel to Ft. Lauderdale to square up against the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET.
