BELMONT, N.C. (Women's Lacrosse) - After a slow start to its first road game of the season Florida Tech (1-1) piled it on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey (3-1), as the Panthers scored the final 16 goals of the game, including a 10-0 edge in the second half, on the way to an impressive 17-5 victory Friday.

Eight different Panthers accounted for the team's scoring in the game. Caroline Dunleavy led all players with four goals and an assist. Allie Modica tallied four goals and a team-high three ground balls. Mary Gormley added three goals and a game-high nine draw controls, while Brittney Embree finished with a game-high three caused turnovers. Stephanie Stuart (1-1) earned her first victory of the season with eight saves in between the pipes.

Florida Tech ended with more shots, 36-21, draw controls, 17-7, and less turnovers, 11-17. Both teams recorded 12 ground balls in the game.

BAC opened the scoring on a goal by Marin Felsoci just 2:36 into the contest. Lauren Tybor tied the game at 1-1 but the Crusaders responded with four consecutive goals, three by Katelin Glass, to take a 5-1 lead with 10:53 remaining in the first half.

Sara Grenier stopped the bleeding on her individual effort at the 9:38 mark. The Panthers tallied two more goals, by Dunleavy and Aleah Fjelstad, over the next 21 seconds to cut the deficit to 5-4. Modica then knotted up the game on her solo goal with 6:36 remaining in the half.

FIT added two more scores, on a woman-down goal by Fjelstad from Grenier and a goal by Modica, and grabbed a 7-5 lead with over two minutes to go in the first half.
