Florida Tech Overcomes Halftime Deficit to Grab Road Win

Panthers outscore Sharks 50-38 in second half to earn a 77-73 victory in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Women's Basketball) - After a tough three-game skid Florida Tech found itself on the winning end of their most recent contest Saturday, defeating Sunshine State Conference foe Nova Southeastern 77-73 on the road to earn the season sweep of the Sharks.

The Panthers had four players hit double-digits in points, headed by DeLise Williams with 25 on 7-of-11 shooting and six rebounds. Newcomer Gudlaug Juliusdottir chipped in a season-best 19 points. Julie McCarthy and Markeema Crawford scored 11 and 10 points, respectively

The Panthers started the game out slow finding themselves down nine after the first quarter. However, the team turned it around in the second quarter and outscored the Sharks 14-13 to bring the lead down to eight, 35-27, heading into halftime.

The momentum the Panthers gained at the end of the first half carried through the break. FIT came out firing on all cylinders managing to sink 70 percent of their shots while holding NSU to just 42.3 percent. The Panthers outscored the Sharks by an impressive 50-38 margin in the second half.

Williams and Juliusdottir led the second-half scoring effort with outputs of 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Florida Tech will look to extend their win streak next week when they do battle at home against Florida Southern on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m. ET at the Clemente Center. Fans can access live coverage of the action at FloridaTechSports.com/live.
