ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Panthers hit the road for the second of a two-game road trip. It was not the women's best game as they fell to Eckerd 71-39.
November Morton led the team in points with nine. While,
Gudlaug Juliusdottir paced the team with four rebounds.
The game started out show for Florida Tech as the women struggled to get on the board and found themselves behind 15-1 at the 3:46 mark. Tech then broke the drought and score two of the next three buckets before EC sunk the final two field goals of the quarter to make it 22-5.
The second quarter saw the Panthers get out to the hot start as they strung together an 8-3 run to begin the quarter. However, scoring for both teams stalled as neither made a field goal from the 6:00 to the 1:00 mark. The final minute of the half saw the teams trade a few buckets which brought the tally to 31-15.
Another slow start plagued Florida Tech as they were on the wrong said of an 11-4 to open the third quarter. The struggles continued as a 14-2 run to end the quarter pushed the deficit to 56-23.
The final quarter saw both team's trade buckets for a majority of the period. The Crimson and Gray outscored Eckerd, 16-15, in the quarter but ultimately fell 71-39.
Tech will take advantage of a week's worth of rest before it hits the court again Saturday, Feb. 2, when they welcome Barry to the Clemente Center.
