BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Tech women's soccer looked to end its season on the right foot but a strong outing by the Lynn Fighting Knights downed the Panthers, 1-5.
Brittany Etrick (5) and
Maria Munoz (4) were the main attackers for Tech as together they had nine shots. However,
Nicole McClain got the team's sole goal and
Alexis Sheely was credited with the assist.
Maria Sanchez Recuero and
Miranda Choplin had a combined effort in goal as the two did their best to limit Lynn. The duo combined for four saves.
The first half did not go in favor of the Panthers despite the relatively even shots and shots on goal totals. The difference was Lynn converted three shots into goals while the Panthers did not find the back of the net.
Florida Tech brought it to 3-1 when McClain found the back of the net off a Sheely pass in the 68
th minute. However, it became 5-1 quickly as the Fighting Knights score twice in the next three minutes. The 5-1 score held to the final whistle as Tech lost its final game of the year.
The Crimson and Gray will now turn their focus to improving and getting ready for the 2020 campaign.
