Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Florida Tech Thwarted By Saint Leo, 60-66

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech women's basketball was back in the familiar confines of the Clemente Center for the first time in 10 days as the team hosted the Saint Leo Lions. Despite being back in Melbourne, the Panthers could not overcome the Lions and loss 60-66.

November Morton led all Panther scorers with 13 while Amanda Allen had a team-high six rebounds and Fanny Hakanson kept up her record-breaking pace with six assists.

The Crimson and Gray got off to a slow start, as the baskets were not falling for the team. This caused a deficit of 8-21 at the 4:18 mark. However, this was the last time the Lions scored in the period and two November Morton trey balls cut it to 14-21 after the first 10 minutes.

Tech's run continued at the start of the second quarter as they tallied seven straight points which pushed it to a 13-0 run and brought it back even at 21-21. The rest of the period was the first time in the game that the two teams truly were trading blows back-and-forth as it was a 31-35 score as they went into the locker room.

The second half started as the first half ended with the two teams vying for momentum. Florida Tech managed to grab the momentum with an 8-0 run that gave Florida Tech its first lead since the 3:36 mark in the second. However, a six-point Saint Leo run later in the quarter made it a multiple possession game with a little less than a minute left on the clock.

The score was 46-52 as the contest entered the final 10 minutes. The comeback was on the minds of the Crimson & Gray and a Fanny Paulin fastbreak three made it a one-point game with 4:01 left. Unfortunately that was the closest they came, as the final score was 60-66.

The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday, Jan. 29, when they head to South Florida well they'll look to complete the season sweep of the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. Tipoff for the game is set 5:30 p.m. ET in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the Rubin Arena.
