Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Florida Tech Tallies a Wire-to-Wire Road Victory Over Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The women's basketball team looked to make it two straight road victory as they again went down to South Florida for a game against another conference foe in Lynn. The Panthers completed their mission, as they never trailed in the contest and despite some late-game heroics held on to a 63-58 win.

November Morton found herself at the top of the stat sheet again with her game-high 18 points and Amanda Allen was the game's lead rebounder with eight. Fanny Hakanson once again proved she is one of the country's best passers with another amazing performance as she had seven assists.

Florida Tech might have had its best quarter of the year as the women opened the contest on a 13-2 run. Lynn began to tighten it up about halfway through the quarter and it caused the teams to trade buckets but another 6-0 Tech run at the end of the quarter gave them a 27-12 advantage.

The hot hand of the Panthers went cold in the second as both teams struggled to score for the first 2:30 of the quarter as they combined for five total points. However, a 13-0 Lynn run made the Crimson & Gray sweat, as their double-digit lead became just one point. Luckily, Morton sunk one from beyond the arc and made it 32-28. Lynn did bring it back within two but six straight Tech points made it an eight-point contest before a late jumper cemented the halftime score at 38-32.

The third quarter was the most evenly matched of the day as both teams went back and forth despite small runs at various points by both sides. At the quarter conclusion, each side tallied 14 points which made it a 52-46 game with 10 minutes left in regulation.

The start of the final period looked as if Florida Tech was going to finish as it started as they went on a 9-2 run over the first five minutes. However, Lynn answered with a 10-0 streak of their own that made it 61-58 with a 1:40 left. Fortunately, Tech's defense stifled Lynn's offense and two made free throws, one by Hakanson and another by Allen, iced the contest as the Panthers won 63-58.

Florida Tech's next game will be back in the Clemente Center Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 p.m. ET when the team hosts the Buccaneers of Barry.
