Panthers Tame Tars at Home

Three Different Panthers Score to Secure the Win

MELBOURNE, Fla. - In a key matchup between SSC foes, Florida Tech took on Rollins at home. The Panthers ousted the Tars 3-1 to earn their second consecutive victory.  

INSIDE THE MATCHUP: 

Final: Florida Tech 3, Rollins 1 
Records: Florida Tech (6-3-1, 3-2 SSC) Rollins College (5-4-2, 2-3 SSC) 
Location: Rick Stottler Field | Melbourne, Fla. 

STATS OF THE MATCH: 

  • In the 18' the Panthers capitalized on a corner kick when Halla Helgadottir assited Kate Frazier to go a goal up.  

  • Tech immediately responded with its second goal of the game in the 20' when Maya Querioz Reis placed one in the back of the net after finding the end of a loose ball.  

  • At the intermission, the Panthers out shot the Tars six to three.  

  • After battling for much of the second half, Rollins got its goal in the 74' from Kayla Park.  

  • With less than a minute remaining in the match, Marem Ndiongue scored from outside the box to put the icing on the cake for the Panthers. 

  • Each goalkeeper, Maria Sanchez Recuero and Michelle Fickett made five saves on the night. 

  • Tech had nine corner kickers on the night while Rollins had just three.  

  • Each team had one player receive a yellow card during the match.   

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Florida Tech improves to 9-15-4 all-time against Rollins. 

  • The Panthers have won two consecutive home matches against the Tars. 

  • Helgadottir has had an assist in two straight matches, and in three of her last four appearances.  

  • Florida Tech sits alone in fourth place in the SSC standings with four games remaining in the regular season.   

UP NEXT: The Panthers will be back in action with a road match Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. against Palm Beach Atlantic.
