Boca Raton, Fla. – Following a 12-day break, the Florida Tech men's swimming team were back in the pool on Friday afternoon with a Sunshine State Conference meet against Lynn at the McCusker Pool Complex.
The Panthers emerged victorious 148-114, marking the fifth consecutive season in which Tech defeated the Fighting Knights in a dual meet.
On the day, Florida Tech recorded eight individual victories, four second place finishes and three third place finishes.
Freshman
Zachary Reese was the first individual Crimson and Gray winner on the day, winning the 100 Back with a 52.51 time that was just over a second ahead of the closest competition, which was
Daniel Aizenberg (53.57). Reese would later claim the 200 Back as well for his third individual win of the season with an effort of 1:57.39 that was nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Akos Hajagos recorded the fourth individual victory of his debut season in the 200 Fly with a 1:53.44 effort that was nine seconds ahead of second place
Nathan Scott (2:02.53). He would also make it a twofer by taking top spot in the 500 Free with a 4:42.44 that was almost two seconds ahead of the closest competition.
Max Martino was tops on the podium in an incredibly tight 50 Free with a time of 21.67 that was .04s ahead of second place.
Luke Altmann recorded his third individual victory of the season, this one coming in the 100 Free with a 45.74 finish.
Connor Orth added to Tech's tally on the day with victory in the 200 Breast thanks to a time of 2:07.59 that was .31 ahead of second place.
Jay Jay Fonnotto earned his first individual victory of the season, taking top spot in the 100 Fly that was hotly contested by putting up a time of 50.06 that was .48s ahead of second place.
In relay action, the group of Aizenberg,
Connor Orth, Jay Jay and Altmann won the 200 Medley thanks to a time of 1:33.36. The quartet of Hajagos,
Matthew Heaphy,
Matteo Caruso and Martino claimed third with a finish of 1:34.47.
Tech were also victorious in 200 Free thanks to the team of Altmann, Caruso, Martino and
Jacob Sykora, whose time of 1:24.01 was two and a half seconds ahead of the squad of Aizenberg, Hajagos,
Joshua Cajuste and Reese, who took home second.
