Panthers Drop Doubleheader Against Nova

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • It was a pitcher's duel for the first four innings.
  • In the top of the 5th inning, NSU scored three runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead.
  • In the 6th inning, a grand slam from Alexis Smith put NSU in front 7-0.
  • Florida Tech had an answer for the Sharks in the bottom of the six.
  • Jolie Miracle's 3-run homer cut the deficit to four runs.
  • In the bottom of the 7th, Tech got a rally going that started with a single from Ella Niles.
  • Cheyenne Nelson followed suit with a single. Ella Gibson had a sacrifice fly, bringing home Nelson from third.
  • Mya Ogbodiewgo came in clutch with a single through the left side to score Mikayla Lewin from third and pull the Panthers within one run.
  • Celeste Casillas had a chance for a walk off-win but flew out to left field to end the game.
  • Sam Guider took the loss in the circle for the Panthers. Guider threw 5.2 innings allowing 5 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks, and 3 hit batters.
 

GAME TWO:
Final: Florida Tech 3, RV Nova Southeastern 11

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Nova Southeastern jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a 2-run homer by Ryleigh Langwell.
  • The Sharks drove in two more runs in the 1st inning.
  • In the 2nd inning NSU put up five runs to take a commanding 9-0 lead.
  • Two more runs were added by the Sharks in the 3rd inning.
  • In the 4th inning, Mya Ogbodiewgu hit a 3-run homerun to cut the deficit to eight.
  • Alex Hendrian suffered the loss for Tech. Hendrian allowed three hits, four runs, and two walks.
  • Madilyn Dutton threw 2.2 innings giving up 8 hits and 7 runs.
  • Guider finished the game in the circle for the Panthers.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Panthers are 36-32 against Nova Southeastern in the all-time series.  
  • Mya Ogbodiewgu had 5 RBIs on the day. Ogbodiewgu's homer was her third of the season.
  • Jolie Miracle went 2-4 at the with 3 RBIs in game one. Miracle's homerun was her first of the season.
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will travel to Boca Raton to take on Lynn in a 3-game series that starts next Friday, Feb. 24th at 2:00PM.
