No. 8 Rollins Runs Over Florida Tech

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER:
  • Rollins opened the game by scoring five straight goals.
  • Sophia Scichilone scored Tech's first goal of the game with 4:15 to go in the first.
  • The Tars scored once more in the first to lead 6-1 at the end of the quarter.
 
SECOND QUARTER:
  • Two goals from the Tars in the second increased their lead by seven making it an 8-1 game.
  • Goals from Kayla Minton followed by Carly Niro, assisted by Gillian Craig, brought the Panther's deficit to within five goals trailing 8-3.
  • The Tars would score two more goals in the second and take a 10-3 lead over the Panthers heading into halftime.
 
THIRD QUARTER:
  • Rollins opened the third scoring four straight goals.
  • They recorded six unanswered goals before Jennifer Boyle scored off Emma Angelo's assist with 56 seconds remaining in the quarter before time expired.
 
FOURTH QUARTER:
  • Rachel Johnson opened the final quarter of the game but still trailed Rollins 14-5.
  • The Tars would later go on to score with 10:44 to go increasing their lead to 15-5.
  • Karly Liebendorfer tallied a goal for the Panthers with 3:57 reaming in the fourth off an assist from Caroline Finn.
  • Rollins put up one more goal as time expired, taking the win over Florida Tech 16-6.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Minton, Johnson, Niro, Boyle, Liebendorfer, and Scichilone all scored goals for the Panthers.
  • Craig, Angelo, and Finn led the Panthers with an assist each.
  • Niro recorded a team-high three ground balls.
  • Kailee O'Brien and Niro both led the team with three caused turnovers each.
  • Angelo won four draw controls, the most of any Panther against the Tars.
  • Emily Harris made 10 saves against Rollins.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • Rollins outshot Tech 34-16 while recording 26 shots on goal to the Panther's 12 shots on goal.
  • Rollins won 17 ground balls while the Panthers recorded a combined 15.
  • The Panthers caused nine turnovers while the Tars caused eight.
  • Rollins won 15 draw controls with the Panthers winning just 10.
  • Florida Tech turned the ball over 20 times with Rollins recording 16 turnovers.
