TAMPA, FLA.- The Panthers competed in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. Tampa won both games, securing the series win.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Florida Tech 7, No.2 Tampa 11
Records: Florida Tech (20-21, 10-13 SSC) | Tampa (28-2, 16-1 SSC)

STATS OF THE GAME:
- The Panthers got on the board early in the 1st inning. Cheyenne Nelson's RBI single drove in Ella Niles.
- In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Spartans responded scoring two runs.
- Kelly McLaughlin doubled in the 2nd inning. Niles reached on an error allowing McLaughlin to score to tie things up 2-2.
- Tampa had an answer in the bottom of the 2nd. A single to left field drove in two runs for the Spartans, giving them a 4-2 lead.
- The Panthers kept battling in the 3rd inning. Mikayla Lewin drove in Whitney Ellis on a single up the middle.
- Mya Ogbodiewgu singled down the right field line scoring Lewin to tie things up again 4-4.
- In the bottom of the 4th inning, Tampa scored one run to take a 5-4 lead.
- The Spartans scored six runs in the 5th inning to extend their lead 11-4.
- Niles started a rally in the 7th inning with a single to second base. Layna Pollock's bunt advanced Niles to second.
- With the bases loaded, Lewin drove in Niles. Ella Gibson singled up the middle driving in Lewin to cut the deficit to 11-7.
- Ogbodiewgu lined out to the pitcher to end the game.
- Allison Platon suffered the loss in the circle for Tech. Platon threw four innings, allowing seven hits and six runs.
- Alex Hendrian threw two innings, giving up five runs and three hits.
GAME TWO:
Final: Florida Tech 1, Tampa 2
Records: Florida Tech (20-22, 10-14 SSC) | Tampa (29-2, 17-1 SSC)
STATS OF THE GAME:
- In the top of the 3rd inning, Layna Pollock's RBI single scored Kelly McLaughlin.
- A RBI single by Tampa in the bottom of the third tied things up 1-1.
- Another RBI single in the fourth inning drove in a run, giving Tampa a 2-1 lead.
- The Panthers had a runner-in-scoring position in the 7th inning but were unable to score the tying run.
- Alex Hendrian threw six innings allowing just two runs and 10 hits.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech is now 52-74 against Tampa in the all-time series.
- The Panthers tallied 16 hits on the day.
- Mikayla Lewin went 2-7 at the plate scoring two runs and tallying two RBIs. Lewin also had two stolen bases.
- Ella Niles was 2-6 with two runs, one RBI, and one stolen base.
- Cheyenne Nelson was 2-2 in game one with one RBI.
