Reynolds Earns 600th Career Win at Home

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's basketball team exploded for a 90-47 win over the University of Fort Lauderdale on Monday afternoon at the Clemente Center. With the win, head coach John Reynold's earned his 600th career win as head coach of the Panthers.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH:
 
First Quarter:
  • Mikayla Morin got the scoring started for the Panthers on the first possession with a mid-range jumper. That jumper sparked a 12-0 run to begin the game for Tech.
  • A layup from Dalma Ehmann put the Panthers up 17-2 at the 1:48 mark.
  • With the clock winding down in the period, Emily Acampora launched a deep three-point jumper and drilled it at the buzzer to send Tech into the second quarter with a 24-6 lead.
 
Second Quarter:
  • Sarah Liberatore began the second quarter with a triple to push the lead to 27-6.
  • The Eagles tried to claw their way back into the game, but a converted three-point play from Morin at the 6:12 mark extended the Panthers' lead to 34-12.
  • That three-point play started a 9-1 run for Tech to go up 40-13 with two minutes left until halftime.
  • After a layup from Fort Lauderdale, the Panthers tacked on four more points to take a 44-15 lead into halftime.
 
Third Quarter:
  • Both teams traded baskets to begin the second half.
  • With a 50-20 lead, Acampora drained another triple that started an 8-0 run for the Panthers to take a 58-20 lead with 4:32 left in the quarter.
  • The Eagles tried to chip away at the lead, and two made free throws cut the lead down to 64-27 with 1:41 on the clock.
  • A layup from Sydney Logsdon with 35 second left in the period put Tech up 66-30 heading into the final quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter:
  • Fort Lauderdale came out firing in the final period and cut the lead down to 70-39 with 8:18 left to play.
  • A fastbreak layup from Liberatore sparked another run for the Panthers, 16-2, to extend the lead out to 88-41 with just over two minutes left to play.
  • Both teams tacked on a few more points in remaining minutes to give the game its final score of 90-47.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Nadine Johnson led the Panthers with 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting.
  • Sara Liberatore scored 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting.
  • Emily Acampora scored six points and led the team with seven assits.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • With win, John Reynolds earned his 600th career win as the head coach of the Panthers.
  • Florida Tech moves to 1-0 in their first ever meeting with Fort Lauderdale.
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will hit the road on Saturday, Nov. 16 to take on Flagler. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in St. Augustine, Fla.
