FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Florida Tech softball headed to Ft. Lauderdale on Friday evening to start the first of the three-game series against No.15 Nova Southeastern on Friday night which saw the Sharks come away with the narrow 1-0 victory.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Alex Hendrian was in the circle to start the game for the Panthers and managed to work her way through three perfect hitless innings retiring Nova Southeastern's first nine batters in row.
- To begin the top of the fourth, Kelly McLaughlin singled to left for either team first hit of the game, before Alyssa Drogemull of NSU would put out the next three Panther batters in a row.
- With the Sharks up to bat in the bottom of the fourth and runners on second and third with one out, Hendrian would work out of the inning, getting the Sharks next two batters to fly out to keep the game scoreless 0-0.
- With Drogemull up to bat, she managed to reach first on a fielder's choice and move the game to two outs in the bottom of the sixth.
- Alexis Smith followed up Drogemull reaching base by tripling to right, scoring Drogemull ton the play to put the Sharks ahead 1-0 before the inning came to a close with the Sharks next batter flying out to left.
- In the top of the seventh and one out, Miranda Schwartz doubled to center to put Tech's tying run on base.
- Nova Southeastern would proceed to get the Panthers next two batters out and take game one of the three game series by a score of 1-0.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Hendrian would pitch all six innings for the Panthers only allowing four hits and three strikeouts with just one walk with only one earned run through 22 batters and just 81 pitches tossed.
- Miranda Schwartz would batt .500 going 1-2 at the plate with her double being Tech's only extra-base hit of the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Panthers now move the All-Time Series record against Nova-Southeastern to 36-33.
UP NEXT: The Panthers will continue its SSC weekend series on Saturday, February 24
th in a doubleheader with first pitch of game one schedule to be thrown out at 12:00 P.M.
