WINTER PARK, Fla. – No.19 Florida Tech women's lacrosse headed out to Winter Park on Saturday, March 23
rd for a Top-20 non-conference matchup against No.13 Rollins. As both teams put up valiant efforts, Rollins was the team to come out victorious with the 14-10 win.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: #19 Florida Tech 10, #13 Rollins 14
Records: Florida Tech (6-4, 0-0 SSC), Rollins (10-2, 2-1 SSC)

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Tars started off taking a big 3-0 lead in the first 10-minutes of the game.
- Karly Liebendorfer was Tech's first goal scorer with 4:50 left to play in the first.
- Jennie Boyle narrows Tech's deficit as it was a 3-2, Rollins lead with 2:09 to play in the first. Boyle's goal came off the assist from Bender.
- Tech was able to make a successful comeback effort down early in the first, as Boyle tied the game with 1:13 to play making it a 3-3 game at the end of the first.
SECOND QUARTER:
- Rollins began the second quarter recording four unanswered goals to pull ahead 7-3 with 6:39 remaining in the second half.
- Tech looked to narrow their deficit again as Caroline Finn scored her first goal of the game, assisted by Millie Hurt with 4:57 left in the quarter.
- Sofie Bender earned her second point of the game, scoring less than a minute later to make it a 7-5 Tars lead.
- The Tars managed to strike again two seconds after Tech's last goal to take the 8-5 lead.
- Bender tacked on her second goal of the contest, assisted by Kayla Minton, to close out the half, making it an 8-6 game after 30-minutes of play.
THIRD QUARTER:
- Bender opened the third scoring her third goal of the game to record a hat trick of an assist from Scichilone at 11:28.
- The Tars closed out the third scoring three straight goals to pull ahead 11-7 entering the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER:
- Rollins found the back of the net first in the fourth quarter at 10:42.
- Less than a minute later Bender scored her fourth goal of the game with 9:47 left to narrow the deficit 12-8 before Rollins put up one more goal to bring the Tars lead to five goals with 9:01 to play.
- The Panthers looked to come back as Carly Niro scored off an assist from Michaela Wittman with 3:18 left on the clock to make it 13-10 Rollins.
- Bender's fifth goal of the contest was at the 0:58 mark, assisted by Boyle to cut Rollins lead to 13-10 before the Tars scored once more to make it a 14-10 game as the clock expired.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Freshman Sofie Bender scored a career high five goals to lead the team with six points.
- Phoebe Hurt recorded a career high six ground balls as well as goalie Cailey Canesse picking up a career high five ground balls.
- Canessa led the team with two caused turnovers.
- Emma Angelo picked up herself a career high nine ground balls.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- The Panthers are now 4-7 all time against Rollins.
