WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Panthers women's basketball team defeats Rollins for the second time this season, 71-67. Florida Tech created turnovers while keeping the ball out of harm's way, winning the turnover battle 20-10.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Panthers got off to a hot start as Sarah Liberatore cashed in on a three-pointer on the Panther's second possession for the 4-3 lead.
- While the Tars did bounce back to have an 8-4 edge, Tech took the final three minutes of the quarter by storm on an 11-2 run.
- Dalma Ehmann made a tough layup to start the run. However, Nadine Johnson turned the momentum to the Panthers when she took a defensive rebound to the hoop. After the foul, she would make the basket and the free throw. About 30 seconds later, Johnson made a tipped-in bucket for five total points.
- Tai Roberts wrapped up the quarter with last-second free throws for the 15-10 advantage.
SECOND QUARTER:
- Despite the Tars dropping a three-pointer to begin the second, that did not slow down the Panther offense. Specifically, Ehmann worked her magic under the net for a hook shot layup and then earned a free throw after drawing a foul.
- Rollins drew within one; however, Remington Smith pushed the lead to five by draining a three-pointer and hitting another the following possession.
- Tai Roberts joined the party by dropping a three-pointer of her own.
- The Tars were unable to score, with Jessica Lange protecting the rim. Lange blocked two Tars' layups, opening the door for the offense to extend their lead.
- Tech went into the break with the 34-29 edge.
THIRD QUARTER:
- Kyandra Poitier took over in the third, grabbing the first bucket with a turnaround jumper. Then swiped the ball from a Tars player 15 seconds later.
- After the media timeout, Johnson, in back-to-back possessions, drove in for a layup, maintaining the one-possession lead for Tech.
- Divine Guthrie helped Tech increase their lead to nine points by causing two steals in two minutes.
- Smith tallied the final four points to round a 19-16 quarter for a 53-45 edge.
FOURTH QUARTER:
- Rollins shot from beyond the arch on their first offensive possession of the fourth. However, Tech responded by scoring five unanswered. The Tars' Emily McIntosh would splash another three-pointer and a layup to make it 58-53 Panthers.
- The Panthers kept the Tars at bay at the free throw limes, hitting 14-for-15 in the final quarter. Ehmann and Smith both went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Tai Roberts had a team-high 15 points and six rebounds.
- Remingtyn Smith was second on the team with a career-high 14 points, going perfect from the line and making two three-pointers. Smith also had five rebounds. She also made a career-high six free throws.
- In the second game in a row, Kyandra Poitier has scored double-digit points, compiling 13. She contributed in multiple ways, leading the team in rebounds (9), assists (4), and steals (4). It's the fifth and second time in her career this season with four steals.
- Divine Guthrie tallied four assists as well and three steals.
- Dalma Ehmann had her fourth 10-plus point game of the season with 11.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Panthers are 28-60 against the Tars. This is the Panthers' first three-game win streak vs. Rollins since doing so between March 1, 1996, and February 22, 1997.
- Tech recorded consecutive wins against the Tars in Winter Park for the first time since January 19, 2011, and February 18, 2012.
- It marks the Panthers' first season sweep of the Tars since the 2011-12 campaign when they twice beat a top-10-ranked Rollins team.
- Five Panthers scored in double-figures.
- Second fewest turnovers by the Panthers, only giving the ball away 10 times.
- Poitier earned her 300th career rebound in the first quarter.
