Fariello’s Grand Slam Fueled Panthers’ Victory Over Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Bases loaded and no outs, Chloe Fariello drilled a grand slam of the Rollins scoreboard, kicking off a six-run third inning leading to a 6-4 victory at Rollins on Friday. The first five batters in the Panthers' lineup made up seven of Tech's nine hits.

STATS OF THE GAME:
Final: Florida Tech 6, Rollins 4
Records: Florida Tech (23-14, 9-7 SSC) | Rollins (21-9, 10-6 SSC)
Location: Rollins Softball Stadium | Winter Park, Fla.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Rollins' defense produced a clean top of the first, setting up their offense to take an early lead. The Tars recorded four hits for three runs in the bottom of the opening inning.
  • In the second inning, both teams earned a combined one hit and two runners on base.
  • A Dani Sigal walk opened the floodgates for the Panthers in the third inning. The following batter reached on an error, and Ella Niles singled, loading the bases with no outs.
  • Chloe Fariello smacked the ball off the Rollins' scoreboard for her first career home run and the Panthers' first grand slam of the season.
  • The Panthers were not done, and they still had zero outs registered. Miranda Schwartz scorched a ball down the left field line, scoring Celeste Casillas after she also singled. Then, Haley Rider's big day started with a ball down the right side, allowing Schwartz to go home, which was helped by a throwing error. Tech had the 6-3 advantage over Rollins.
  • Alex Hendrian took care of business in the circle, going 1-2-3 during the bottom of the inning.
  • Malaya Nelson advanced to second on a hit and ground out but was stranded. Rollins grabbed a hit and made it to third but was also left on base.
  • The Tars drew closer, crossing home in the bottom of the sixth. However, Hendrian forced the Tars next to the batters to place the ball right to Schwartz at third for the putouts.
  • Hendrian and the Panthers' defense sealed the victory, shutting down the final three batters in the seventh.
