GAME NOTES
FIRST QUARTER
- Bridget Robinson was on point early as she picked up three saves on three consecutive shots by Tampa.
- Robinson made another big stop on Tampa's first free position shot of the game. The Spartans were able to pick up the ground ball and score shortly after.
- Tampa fired two more shots at the Panthers net, but Robinson came up with two more saves to hold off the Spartans.
- Gillian Craig got the Panthers on the board and to tie the game off an assist from Abby Cudzilo.
- Cudzilo connected with Sophia Scichilone as Scichilone's goal gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead.
- The Spartans responded with a man-up goal after a green card was issued to Tech.
- Tampa went on a 3-0 run to end the quarter as they took a 5-2 lead on Tech.
- Bridget Robinson had 12 saves in the first quarter.
- The Panthers had 10 turnovers in the period.
SECOND QUARTER
- After Tampa took a 6-2 lead, the Panthers showed fight with a 4-0 run to tie the game, starting with a free position goal from Phoebe Hurt.
- The run continued after a draw control win by Clare McGuire which led to a gola from Sofie Bender.
- A green card was issued to Tampa at the 6:58 mark which the Panthers took advantage of moments later with a man-up goal by Gillian Craig.
- Craig would score again a minute later to tie the game.
- The Spartans stopped the bleeding with a goal of their own to go up 7-6.
- Florida Tech took advantage of another man-up opportunity as Sofie Bender found the back of the net off a nice pass from Sophia Scichilone.
- Tampa would put up two quick goals before the half ended to go into halftime with a 9-7 lead.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Panthers would remain within striking distance as Scichilone scored on an extra man opportunity following a yellow card on Tampa.
- Tampa had a free position shot after a Panther foul, but Bridget Robinson continued to thwart the Spartans with another save.
- The Spartans hit back-to-back goals to go up 12-8.
- Scichilone assisted another Tech goal as Sofie Bender brought the Panthers within three.
- With 1:25 left in the third quarter, Tampa hit two consecutive goals to extend their lead to 14-9.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Panthers started the scoring in the fourth quarter as Scichilone earned the hat trick with the assist credited to Gillian Craig.
- Clare McGurie joined the scoring to shrink the Tampa lead to four with 10:49 to play.
- After a Tampa score, Isabelle Perry forced a Spartan turnover. Clare McGuire would pick up the ground ball and assist Abby Cudzilo who tallied her lone goal of the game.
- With time of their side, Tampa was able to bleed the clock and defeat the Panthers 17-12.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Bridget Robinson was excellent in net as she set a school record with her 20 saves.
- Scichilone, Bender and Craig had hat tricks for the Panthers.
- Phoebe Hurt did it all as she picked up six ground balls, forced three Tampa turnovers, won two draw controls, scored once and assisted one goal.
