Director of Athletics Jamie Joss Selected to NCAA Championships Committee

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Tech Director of Athletics Jamie Joss has been appointed to the NCAA Division II Championships Committee, one of the highest-profile national governance roles in Division II athletics. The appointment which begins September 1, 2026 and runs through August 31, 2030, continues a decade-long pattern of NCAA service that has placed Joss at the center of Division II governance.

The Championships Committee is comprised of 13 members, including two representatives from the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, two members of the Division II Management Council, and athletics administrators from across the nation. The committee is the primary oversight group responsible for administering the policies and procedures surrounding Division II's 25 championships, including the budget and conduct of each championship and the qualification and selection procedures that determine postseason participation. All Division II sport committees report directly to the Championships Committee. The committee also oversees applicable playing regulations in the areas of player safety, financial impact, and image of the sport, acts on behalf of the Division II Presidents Council and Management Council as the final authority on championship matters subject to appeal, and selects sports and rules committee representatives.

"To be appointed to the NCAA Division II Championships Committee is one of the greatest honors of my career. This committee sits at the center of everything Division II stands for, the scholar-athlete experience, competitive excellence, and the integrity of our championships across 25 sports," Joss said. "I am humbled by the trust placed in me, energized by the work ahead, and proud to represent Florida Tech and the Sunshine State Conference at the national level. Our scholar-athletes, coaches, and member institutions deserve the very best, and I am fully committed to helping deliver it."

Joss brings extensive NCAA governance experience to the committee. He served three consecutive years as National Chair of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and previously served a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee from 2017 to 2021, which reviews nominations for all Division II-specific committees and Division II positions on Association-wide committees.

"We've seen in both the classrooms and sporting venues across campus that our scholar-athletes are performing at the highest levels. We appreciate Jamie Joss' leadership in helping to build this culture," said Florida Tech President John Nicklow. "We are proud but not surprised that he's been selected for this critical, high-profile role in NCAA DII governance and look forward to having Jamie and Florida Tech on the front lines of national college athletics."

The appointment places Florida Tech and the Sunshine State Conference in a national leadership role at a time when Panther Athletics is coming off one of the most successful competitive years in program history, highlighted by the women's soccer team's 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship.
