The Florida Tech Panther Success Program is designed to identify academically “at-risk” student-athletes. This program gives those student-athletes extra support and focus. This is achieved through close monitoring of academic progress, supervised study hall hours, regular one-on-one meetings with the Director of Student-Athlete Development, Mandi Bennett, and tutoring.
Academic Criteria for Panther Success Program
- Student-athletes are placed in this program based on specific academic criteria. All student-athletes (incoming freshman, college transfers, and current student-athletes) are subject to this program.
Incoming Freshman
- Cumulative high school GPA below 2.5 and/or
- SAT score below 900 or ACT score below 19
College Transfer/Returning Student-Athletes:
- Cumulative college GPA below 2.25
Program Requirements
- Weekly meetings with the Director of Student-Athlete Development
- Weekly written progress reports from professors will be available throughout the semester on a need basis
- Number of study hall hours per week will be determined by the Director of Student-Athlete Development
- Weekly tutoring at the Academic Support Center is available
- Study groups at the Academic Support Center are available
Coach’s Request:
- If the Director of Student-Athlete Development and head coach have a student-athlete who he/she believes should be included in this program, but does not fit the established criteria, a recommendation will be made as to the specific requirements that will be placed on the student-athlete.
