Financial Aid
Athletic scholarships are awarded by the Office of Financial Aid upon recommendation of the Head Coach and approval by the Athletics Director and Office of Financial Aid. An athletics scholarship is restricted to cover tuition (up to 19 credits), fees, room, board and required course-related books per NCAA rules. Required course related books may only be provided to those individuals receiving a full athletic scholarship and must be designated on the Athletics Scholarship Agreement.
Please remember, athletic scholarships are only one-year, renewable agreements (unless otherwise specified in the scholarship agreement).
15.02.7 Period of Award. The period of award begins when the student-athlete receives any benefits as part of the student-athlete's grant-in-aid on the first day of classes for a particular academic term, or the first day of practice, whichever is earlier, until the conclusion of the period set forth in the financial aid agreement. An athletics grant-in-aid shall neither be awarded in excess of one academic year nor for a period less than one academic year. (See Bylaw 15.5.3.1.1 for exceptions.) (Adopted: 10/20/03, Revised: 1/21/17 effective 8/1/18, 4/26/18)

Your athletics aid may not be decreased or canceled during the period of the award (as listed on the scholarship letter) for any of the following reasons:
- On the basis of a student-athlete’s athletics ability, performance, or contribution to the team’s success; or
- Injury that prevents the student-athlete from participating in athletics; or
- For any other athletic reason.
Your athletics aid may be increased during the period of award at any time.
**Please see Student-Athlete Manual for Financial Aid Appeal Procedure.
Outside Sources of Aid
A student-athlete is permitted to receive financial aid in any way related to athletics ability, either from Florida Tech or an outside source, up to a full grant-in-aid (covering tuition, fees, room, board, and required course related books). Other sources of aid unrelated to athletics ability (loans, grants, Pell Grants, etc) may be received up to the cost of attendance, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Each student-athlete is required to report all outside aid to the Financial Aid Office at the start of the academic year. The Office of Financial Aid will determine whether the outside aid is permissible within accordance of NCAA rules.
