Francine Meyer Sanchez was hired as Assistant Coach of the Florida Tech men's and women's swimming programs in Summer 2019.
Prior to coming to Melbourne, Meyer served as an assistant coach at Fairmont University for the 2018-19 season. At Fairmont, she developed and conducted stroke and sprint freestyle practices as well as design dry-land programs to strengthen technique and endurance. Simultaneous to her working as an assistant coach, Meyer was also a basic aquatics swim instructor at Fairmont University as well as an assistant coach for a swim club in the Fairmont area.
In Summer 2016, Meyer served as a swimming intern/assistant coach for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista where she assisted an Olympic Swim Coach in training athletes ahead of the Rio Olympics.
From 2014 to 2017, Meyer worked as a swim instructor under current Florida Tech Swim head coach David Dent at West Virginia Tech. In that position, she created individualized swim workouts for student-athletes and instructed novice swimmers in proper breathing skills, water safety and swimming technique.
A competitive swimmer for 14 years before starting coaching, Meyer was a member of the WVUT swim program from 2013-17. During that time she served as the captain of the women's swim team from 2014-16, while also holding the position of Vice President of the WVU-Tech Sport Studies Club (2014-17).
She earned an NAIA Champion of Character Award in consecutive years (2014-15 & 2015-16) and was an "A" finalist in the 100-yd freestyle at the 2016 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships. Meyer earned multiple Dean's List awards at WVU-Tech.
Meyer graduated Magna Cum Laude in just three years with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Coaching and a minor in Sport Management. She used her final year of eligibility to start a graduate degree at Fairmont State where she is earning a Master of Education in Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness.
Born in Sao Roque, Sao Paolo, Brazil, Meyer is fluent in English, Portugese and Spanish.
