Aerial Wilson is entering her fourth season as the Assistant Coach of the Florida Tech women's basketball program in 2022-23 season.
Wilson joined the Tech staff in August 2019 after serving as the head coach of the Melbourne High School girls’ basketball team the past four seasons (2015-19). She was hired as the Bulldogs’ head coach at only the age of 24 and she made an instant impact on the program. Over the four years, Wilson amassed an overall record of 88-16, including a jaw-dropping 47-1 mark against in-conference opponents.
The Bulldogs ranked in the Top 25 in the state of Florida in 2015-16 and 2016-17. She led the team to three consecutive undefeated Cape Coast Conference championship seasons in 2015-18, two Florida-8A District championships in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and two Florida-8A Regional runner-up finishes in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Her success earned her two Cape Coast Conference Coach of the Year awards in 2017 and 2018 and an induction into the Space Coast Daily Hall of Fame earlier this year.
Prior the MHS, Aerial served as assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team for the 2014-15 season. Due to her recruiting efforts, the Titans brought in many women that eventually moved into the Division I ranks following their stint at EFSC.
Wilson also had a very successful scholastic playing career during her time at local Rockledge High School. A four-year varsity athlete at “The Rock”, Wilson tallied an amazing 2,209 career points for the Raiders, including 1,413 points in her junior and senior seasons alone.
In her junior season at Rockledge, Wilson finished second in the state of Florida in scoring, averaging 27.2 points per game. During her senior year, she averaged 31.2 points per game and was named the 2009 Florida-4A Player of the Year and a finalist for the 2009 Florida’s Miss Basketball award.
Wilson moved on from RHS to earn a Division I scholarship to play for the Virginia Tech Hokies, where she was a member of the women’s basketball program from 2009-13. Her best year in Blacksbug came in 2011-12 when she averaged 12.1 points, 2.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game and garnered the team’s Most Valuable Player award.
Wilson was inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in May 2019 in recognition for her incredible high school career.
