Matt McHenry

Matt McHenry enters his fifth year as a full-time assistant on the Florida Tech coaching staff. He assist in the organization of practice, games and community service projects. McHenry is also responsible for coordinating travel arrangements and game tape exchange.

During his tenure, the women's basketball team has amassed a 66-47 record for a win percentage of 58.4%. This was highlighted with two 20 win seasons (2014-15 and 2015-16.) He was also a key member in the orchestration of back-to-back Sunshine State Conference tournament runner-up bids (2015-16 and 2016-17.) 

McHenry has mentored the student athletes to two-time All-America, one All-South region and three All-SSC selections. Plus, he helped place four more individuals on All-SSC tournament teams. 

A native of Melbourne, Fla., McHenry arrived at Florida Tech after earning his bachelor’s degree in history from Florida State University in 2010. McHenry earned a master’s degree in sport management from Florida State University.

While at Florida State as an undergrad student, McHenry served as the women’s basketball manager under head coach Sue Semrau. He was also member of the women’s basketball team’s scout team.

McHenry recently earned his coaching certificate from Florida State.

During his master’s degree candidacy, McHenry served as an instructor for the Lifetime Activities Program. The program, associated with the Florida State Sports Management Program, offers one-credit courses for Florida State students to take as a way to stay healthy and act as a method for them to escape stress of their courses and studies. McHenry taught two semesters of these classes, including soccer, racquetball and aerobic conditioning.

 “I am completely honored to have the opportunity to work with Coach John Reynolds, his coaching staff, the FIT women’s basketball team and the entire Florida Tech athletic department,” McHenry said. “I hope to bring a fresh perspective to Florida Tech while simultaneously learning the facets of Division II athletics.”

The Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy graduate, a local Melbourne high school, plans to receive his master’s degree in sports management from Florida State in the spring.
