Laura Harting was hired as Assistant Coach of the Florida Tech men's and women's swimming programs and Aquatics Director in October 2021.
For the 2021-22 season, Harting assisted in sending three individuals to compete at NCAA's. Both Daniel Aizenberg and Savannah Brennan returned to the Championships while joined by Nicole Rautmberg. At Nationals, Aizenberg earned First-Team All-American honors in the 100 back and two Honorable Mention Honors in the 200 Back and 100 Butterfly. Training under Dent, Brennan became the first Women's All-American in program history by finishing fifth in the 1000 Freestyle A Final earning First-Team All-Americanand two Honorable Mention awards in the 200 Breast and 400 IM. Aizenberg and Brennan were both named CSCAA Scholar Americans as both men's and women's teams were recognized as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams.
In her second season assisting Coach Dent, Harding helped send the three individuals of Daniel Aizenberg, Nicole Rautmberg and Katherine Helminiak along with two relay teams to the 2023 NCAA Championships. Daniel Aizenberg recorded a stellar seventh-place finish in the nation in the 100 back along with a first-place finish in the same event at the SSC Championships. Among the relay teams included was the first-ever women's relay team to compete at NCAA's in Florida Tech history. Aizenberg and Robert Sean Catron were both named CSC Academic All-Americans. Aizenberg earned First-Team Academic All-American honors while Catron earned Honorable Mention All-American Honors.
Harting comes to Florida Tech from NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York where she served as Assistant Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach and Recruiting Coordinator since May 2019. At St. Bonaventure, Harting assisted in leading the Bonnies’ men’s swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at the 2020 A-10 Conference Championships. She also worked closely with 2020 Gold Medalist and 200-yard individual medley A-10 record holder, Tjaard Krusch.
Coinciding with her time at St. Bonaventure, Harting also served as Pool Manager, Swim Lessons Coordinator and Age Group Swim Coach at Bartlett Country Club in Olean.
Harting served as a graduate assistant coach at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio from 2017 to 2019 while she earned her master’s degree. During her time at Wittenberg, Harting assisted in the recruiting of 12 new student-athletes for the 2018-19 season, doubling the size of the previous season’s recruiting class.
Before her stint at Wittenberg, Harting was the head coach at the Walnut Grove Swim Club in Trenton, Ohio and the Monroe Wildwood Swim Team in Monroe, Ohio. During her time at Walnut Grove in 2017-18, she led the team to its highest finish in the Butler County Swim League Championship meet in six years. At the helm of the Monroe Wildwood Swim Team from 2015-17, she grew the team from 60 to 80 swimmers in two summers.
Additionally, she worked as a Senior Age Group Swim Coach at the Greater Miami Valley YMCA in Middletown, Ohio during the summer of 2018 and was the Head Summer Swim Coach at Walnut Grove Swim Club in Trenton, Ohio from May 2017 to August 2018.
Harting was a member of the swim team for four seasons at Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio, swimming primarily in freestyle races. In the classroom she was a member of the Urbana’s Athletics Director Honor Roll and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Athlete’s National Honor Society.
Harting received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing with a minor in Human Resource Management from Urbana in May 2017. She graduated with her Master’s Degree in Athletic Coaching from Wittenberg in May 2019.
