Catherine Davie serves as an assistant coach for the Florida Tech men’s rowing program, joining the staff in August 2023 after previously spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the women’s program.
Prior to Florida Tech, she was the head girls’ rowing coach at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she led the program from 2017 to 2021. During her tenure, she guided the team to a conference championship in 2019, a top-20 finish in the Varsity 4+ at the Head of the Charles Regatta, and a Varsity 4+ event victory at the 2019 Textiles Regatta.
Alongside her high school coaching role, Davie also coached with Community Rowing Inc. in Boston from 2016 to 2020. There, she worked with athletes across a wide range of levels, including middle school, high school, U23, and masters rowers. Her responsibilities included running U23 sculling development camps, serving as head coach for military outreach programming, and contributing to adaptive rowing initiatives through specialized equipment development for para-athletes.
Davie’s collegiate coaching background includes multiple roles at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. She served as an assistant coach from 2010 to 2012 while completing her graduate studies, and later returned as head coach from 2014 to 2016. In these roles, she oversaw training plans, daily practice structure, recruiting support, and travel coordination for competition.
A former collegiate rower, Davie was a four-year member of the Smith College women’s rowing team from 2006 to 2010. She served as team captain and helped lead Smith to an NCAA Championships appearance in 2009. As a student-athlete leader, she also coordinated fundraising efforts, including a team-wide silent auction, and earned the Rita Benson Award in consecutive years for her behind-the-scenes leadership and contributions to the program.
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Davie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Classics from Smith College in 2010. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in Classics from Brandeis University in 2012 and a Master of Arts in Maritime Studies from the University of Haifa in 2014. She holds USRowing Level II certification along with CPR/AED, boating safety, and SafeSport certifications.
