Michelle Robinson

Michelle Robinson is in her 20th year as the Director of Fitness and Wellness for Florida Tech's Charles and Ruth Clemente Center and has held that position since 2002. 

In her role, Robinson oversees strength & conditioning, wellness, and fitness classes, coordination of fitness competitions, health fairs, and incentive programs, and the hiring, training, scheduling, and management of all part-time and student personnel to ensure all participants and patrons have a positive experience. She oversees the fitness center operations within the 57,250-square-foot multi-purpose fitness and recreation center. She supervises a staff of 60 employees, which includes fitness instructors, personal trainers, facility attendants, facility supervisors, and maintenance staff. She directs the group fitness program consisting of 50 classes per week, as well as develops and coordinates the strength and conditioning, wellness and personal training programs. Robinson coordinates facility usage to accommodate fitness classes, personal training and campus events, along with designing personal training programs and instructing fitness classes, including Pilates, yoga, intervals, and cycling. She organizes special events including fitness competitions, wellness fairs and incentive programs as well as develops and delivers wellness seminars to the campus community. Additionally, Robinson assists in the management of revenue and expense budgets.

Prior to her arrival in Melbourne, Robinson served as the Athletic Director for Athletic Club Northeast in Atlanta, Georgia from 2000 to 2001. In that time, Robinson assisted in the management of a 126,000-square foot multi-purpose athletic facility that served 5,600 members, including the supervision of 80 employees. She directed the group fitness program consisting of 100 classes per week, administered the league sports program and managed various sport clubs. Her role also required her to coordinate special events as well as continuing education seminars for staff. 

Robinson previously served as Assistant Director of Fitness Centers with the Division of Recreational Sports at the University of Florida in Gainesville from 1995-2000. During that time, she assisted in the management of two recreation and fitness centers serving over 800,000 users annually, which included the supervision of 160 employees. She supervised the Gatorobics group fitness program consisting of 100-120 classes per week, in addition to managing two strength and conditioning rooms of 4,700 and 5,600 square foot. Robinson coordinated special events including wellness fairs and charity fundraisers, organized and directed annual two-day staff training for over 200 employees and developed and delivered exercise testing/prescription workshops and CPR certification classes. 

Before becoming Assistant Director, Robinson served as Graduate Assistant Wellness/Strength Coordinator. She assisted in the management of the Lifestyle Appraisal Center and strength and conditioning rooms as well as supervised fitness appraisers, interns, practicum students and weight room attendants. She conducted fitness assessments and exercise/nutrition education classes along with designing exercise programs, managing the outdoor fitness program and teaching group fitness classes. She planned and promoted special events including programs for the Student Health Care Center. Robinson instructed American Heart Association CPR classes to certify staff and developed exercise testing and prescription manuals, as well as established procedures for all fitness assessments. 

Robinson graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s of science degree in exercise and sport sciences in 1993 and then earned a master of science in exercise and sports sciences from Florida in 1995.
