Sarah Irizarry was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Facility Services in May 2025. Prior to, Irizarry held the role of Director of Facilities for Florida Tech's Charles and Ruth Clemente Center since 2011.
In this elevated role, Irizarry is an integral member of the athletics leadership team, advising on both strategic initiatives and daily operations that impact the department and its scholar-athletes.
Irizarry oversees the management and daily operations of all Florida Tech athletic facilities, including the Clemente Center, Panther Athletic Complex, Panther Aquatic Center, and Varsity Training Center. Her responsibilities include coordinating all facility scheduling through the Event Management System (EMS) in close collaboration with University Events & Protocol, Intramurals and Recreational Sports, Club Sports, and ROTC.
In addition to scheduling, Irizarry will lead the department's efforts in facility maintenance and risk management. She will work closely with campus partners and external vendors to address custodial, structural, and equipment needs, completing work orders and service requests to maintain the safety and functionality of all athletic venues. Her oversight includes managing both routine and long-term facility upkeep and ensuring that all spaces operate effectively and meet high standards of quality.
Irizarry also oversees tje coordination of special events including hiring, training, scheduling, and management of all part-time and student personnel to ensure all participants and patrons have a positive experience. She performs monthly preventative maintenance on the facility, schedules the recreation center facilities, and supervises facility operations such as set-ups and breakdowns of facility events. She is the coordinator and primary administrative liaison for all Clemente Center special events. Irizarry has worked with outside vendors on special events including President Obama, Health First Gala, International Space University, Harlem Globetrotters, Natural Awakenings and Dancing with the Space Coast. Additionally, Irizarry assists in the management of revenue and expense budgets.
Irizarry has also served as an adjunct faculty member since 2018, teaching University Experience. She planned, organized and taught a course for first year students, one that is required for all first-year students to take.
During her time at Florida Tech, Irizarry has also served as an office manager for the Clemente Center from 2010-2011. Her role required her to manage revenue generated through membership sales and fitness services, assisting in the coordination of special events and fitness seminars and assisting in coordinating facility usage through the Event Management System. She instructed group cycling, sports conditioning and running classes and maintained Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Personal Fitness Trainer certification.
Her prior role at the Clemente Center was as a facility supervisor attendant between from 2008-2010. In that time, she managed all areas of the Clemente Center to ensure patron safety and policy enforcement, responded to all crisis situations, performed emergency procedures when necessary, supervised on-duty facility attendants, event employees and fitness instructors, ensuring adequate staffing. In addition, she administered in-service training and evaluation of facility attendants.
Irizarry previously interned with the real estate department at Clear Channel Outdoor in Melbourne in 2010. She assisted the head of the real estate department with locating files for advertisements.
Irizarry played for the Florida Tech softball team from 2007 to 2011 and then served as a volunteer assistant coach from 2012 to 2018. Irizarry graduated from Florida Tech with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration in 2010 and then earned a Master of Business Administration from Florida Tech in 2012.
