Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. (Volleyball) – Riding a three-game winning streak, Florida Tech was looking to continue its strong play in a Sunshine State Conference road matchup against Rollins on Tuesday night. However, it was not in the cards for the Panthers (10-8, 2-6 SSC) in this one as FIT was defeated by the Tars (6-13, 2-5 SSC) in four sets (20-25, 19-25, 25-19, 18-25).
Marilyn Dick led the Panthers with a match-high 16 kills to go along with her eight digs. The 16 kills was also a season-best performance for the senior. Jenna Schaffer added 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks, while Kim Juriga finished with nine kills and nine digs.
On the inside, Ashtin Truesdale tied her season-high with 45 assists in addition to leading the Panthers in digs with 12. Filling in for the injured Becca Bower at libero, Senka Radakovic and Merelyn Martinez combined for 17 digs in the match.
Bri Civiero paced the Tars with a team-high 15 kills and 10 digs and Kierra Tirado added 11 more kills and three blocks. MaryEllen Pole had a team-high 24 assists, while teammate April Jackson dished out 19 more assists. Rachel Sawyer notched a match-high 17 digs for the Tars.
The Panthers will be on the road once again this weekend as the Panthers head to West Palm Beach, Florida to face No. 17 Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. ET. Following the match with the Sailfish, the team travels to Miami Shores, Florida for a contest against SSC foe Barry on Saturday at 4 p.m.
