Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Volleyball) – Following a disappointing performance the night before, the Panthers returned to action Saturday afternoon versus Sunshine State Conference rival Barry at the Health & Sports Center. After Florida Tech (10-10, 2-7 SSC) tied it up after two sets, the Bucs (10-7, 5-3 SSC) survived a relentless Panther attack in the next two to come away with a four set victory (27-25, 19-25, 25-18, 27-25).
Two Panthers finished with double-doubles in the loss. Marilyn Dick recorded 11 kills and 11 digs, while Jenna Schaffer notched 10 kills and a season-high 16 digs. Olivia Hersey added 11 kills and a team-high .364 attack percentage and Alea Hamm posted nine kills and three blocks against the Bucs. Helping initiate the Panther attack was Ashtin Truesdale, who dished out 41 assists and seven digs.
Eva Raat led BU with a match-high 12 kills and four blocks. Katie Dooley and Kaitlin Drake registered 11 kills each in the win. Jasmine Serna and Jenny Trinidad registered 24 and 20 assists, respectively. Brittany Jaco recorded a match-high 26 digs for her team.
FIT was outplayed at the net in this one, finishing with just 5.5 blocks compared to the Bucs' 10 for the match. BU also out hit the Panthers .216-to-.148.
The Panthers return to the friendly confines of the Clemente Center for their next contest on Tuesday against Embry-Riddle. In the previous matchup versus the Eagles this season on Sept. 18, FIT was defeated 3-1 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
