Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Following a disappointing result on Friday, Florida Tech was hoping for a better performance against Sunshine State Conference foe Nova Southeastern on Saturday at NSU Arena. However, it was tough sledding against the Sharks (16-9, 7-5 SSC), as the Panthers (11-12, 2-9 SSC) fell in four sets (25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18).
With the win, NSU has now swept the season series with the Panthers, also coming away with a 3-2 victory on Sept. 25 in Melbourne.
Alea Hamm led all Panthers with 13 kills and a season-high seven blocks in the loss. Olivia Hersey recorded 11 kills on a team-high .400 attack percentage. Finishing just short of another double-double was Ashtin Truesdale with 20 assists and eight digs, while Kiersten Rosa dished out 16 assists to go along with her seven digs and two blocks. On the back line, Becca Bower notched a team-high 22 digs and four assists.
Pacing the Sharks was Dana Holger with a match-high 19 kills in addition to 16 digs. Denvyr Tyler-Palmer and Caitlin Donahue added 17 and 15 kills, respectively. Katie Pyles handed out a match-high 50 assists to go along with her 16 digs and six kills. Megan Burns was very active in NSU's win, tacking on a match-high 33 digs.
Both FIT and NSU recorded 10 total team blocks in the contest, while the Panthers were outhit by their opponent .125-to-.273.
It's back to the Clemente Center for the Panthers as they host Saint Leo on Tuesday. FIT fell on the road against the Lions earlier this season 3-1 on Oct. 2 in Saint Leo, Florida.
