TAMPA, Fla. (Women's Soccer) – After evening the score with less than 15 minutes to play, Florida Tech was unable to keep the Spartans of Tampa off the board late, falling 3-2 in a road Sunshine State Conference battle Saturday night.
The Panthers largely dominated the offense, posting a 14-9 disparity in shots, including an 8-4 margin in shots on goal. However, Tampa made FIT pay with what offense it could produce, having just one of its shots on goal turned away by Panther keeper
Karlyn Prisco.
Natasia Asgedom gave the Spartans the lead 28:30 into the game, scoring on an assist by Gabby Scirica. Less than three minutes later,
Aubri Williamson, who led FIT with five total shots, evened the score at a goal apiece.
The score would remain tied heading into the break but just over 10 minutes after the intermission, UT was back out in front on a goal by Ali Robinson, assisted by Sarah Raymond.
FIT kept on pressing and in the 76
th minute it paid off when senior
Lauren Bolhuis netted her first score of the season, knotting the game at deuces.
Just when momentum had flipped, it turned right back four minutes later with Asgedom again entering the scoring column and recording the game winner on a feed by Meg Beidleman.
With the conference portion of the season completed, Florida Tech will play two non-league games to wrap up the regular season. The Panthers face Lynn in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Florida before concluding the regular season Friday at Embry-Riddle.
