SAINT LEO, Fla. (Volleyball) - Florida Tech put up quite a fight in its match against league-leading Saint Leo Tuesday night, but the Panthers were unable to keep pace with the powerful attack of the Lions, falling 3-1 (15-25, 10-25, 25-23, 20-25) on the road in Sunshine State Conference action.
The Panthers were limited to just .058 hitting in the match, while the Lions posted a hit rate of .257. SLU recorded 53 kills on 148 attempts and FIT finished with 37 kills on 157 total attacks.Â
Olivia Hersey led all players with 14 kills on a team-high hit percentage of.342. Hersey also collected five digs and three blocks in the match. Classmate
Kelly Germain was second on the team in kills with seven to go along with nine digs and two blocks.
Kiayna O'Neal and
Abigael Brenke each tallied five kills with O'Neal adding a team-best five blocks to her stat line.
Kiersten Rosa distributed 26 assists to go along with eight digs, two kills and two blocks, while
Becca Bower finished with a match-high 20 digs.Â
Katie Adamson and Britt Sederholm paced the Lions with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Adamson also notched a match-high six blocks in the contest. Maddy Powell had an impressive outing for SLU, recording a double-double on 40 assists and 10 digs in addition to posting five blocks. Jamee Townsend picked up a team-best 18 digs, while Maddy Powell contributed 15 to the Lions' stat line.
